Welcome to Car Seats Untangled!

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, aunt (like me!), uncle, or family friend,  if you’re driving babies or kids around, you need to know how to keep them safe on the road. If its been a few years since you toted kids around, its a good idea to brush up on the best practices and laws in your area. There’s a LOT of info out there, and it can be time consuming to dig through it all.  And, if you’re busy caring for kids, we know your time (especially solo time) is limited.

We are here to help, and there are 2 main ways we do that.

First, we  make info on car seat and booster seat laws in the US easier to find. It’s out there, for sure, but some states have great online resources, and others require more digging. We curated links to the best resources for each state, to get the most accurate and current information.

Second, we help parents and caregivers quickly find answers to the most common questions about car seats and booster seats: which style to use for each baby or kid,  installation, how to strap kids in safely, when to level up, when to switch to a booster or seat belt, and of course, where to check for recalls.  Since we are not experts, we provide links those who are: state and local law enforcement, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP), and others.

We regularly check for updates, but if you know something about car seats is changing (or about to change) in your state, we’d love to hear from you.

If you know of a great car seat info link, feel free to email us via the contact page, and we’ll gratefully add it to the collection.

If there’s something you’re looking for but can’t find here, let us know – we’ll be happy to do a little digging for you.
